We can arrange visits for individuals and groups of all ages, e.g. schools, young people's groups, 'oldies', and endeavour to tailor the experience to suit the group. Typically visits last for about one hour or more depending on the size of the party and can include a tour of the building and its facilities, a chance to climb on board the Lifeboat and be shown the equipment carried, an explanation of the crew’s individual Personal Protective Equipment (lifejackets, helmets, drysuits etc), and an informative video from the RNLI.
The visits are normally conducted by active members of the crew, and all questions are positively encouraged. The whole experience can be altered to suit the group and run at a mutually agreeable time. Visit the 'Education' page for activities and resources which groups may find useful before (or after) their visit.
We look forward to welcoming you to Helensburgh Lifeboat Station.
We recently received this fabulous 'thank you' card from the very enthusiastic 105th who travelled down from Glasgow to visit the station and were lucky enough to see the boat launched. The crew were most impressed with the drawing of the lifeboat.
Following a recent visit to the lifeboat station, the Drummore Primary School P2/P3 class sent the lifeboat crew this most impressive card.
Another impressive card sent to the crew following a visit by the 1st Arrochar & Tarbet Brownie Pack.
"The group were most impressed at how dedicated all the RNLI volunteers were and that they do it for free, holding down normal 'day' jobs as well. Highlights of the visit were watching Steve get into his dry suit!! and getting to sit in the lifeboat. Many thanks to Colin and Steve for making us most welcome and for giving up their valuable time to show us round the station."
